Account deletion

Delete your Plink account

Plink is a till app. Two different groups have data in it, and the route to deletion is different for each. Find yourself below.

If you sign in to Plink

This covers organisers and staff who have an account with an email address and a password. To have your account and everything held against it deleted:

  1. Email hello@plinkapp.co.uk from the address you sign in with, with the subject "Delete my account".
  2. Tell us the name of the event or organisation your account belongs to.
  3. We confirm by reply, and the account is deleted within 30 days.

An admin in your organisation can also delete a member directly in the app, under Users. That removes the person's sign-in account and their staff record without waiting on us.

If you bought something at an event

Customers never have a Plink account. Your details sit with the organiser that registered your tag, and that organiser decides what happens to them. Ask the organiser first, because the person who owns their organisation can delete your record from the app, and it takes effect straight away. If you cannot reach them, email hello@plinkapp.co.uk with the event's name and the name or contact details you gave when your tag was registered, and we will act on your behalf.

What gets deleted

Deleting an account removes:

  • Your name, and the email address or phone number held against you.
  • Your sign-in credentials, where you had an account.
  • Your staff record, and your place on every event it belonged to.
  • The link between you and any tag registered to you.

A till PIN and a staff tag are not part of the sign-in account. They sit on the operator record an organiser keeps for each event, alongside the name that appears on sales, and only the salted hash of the PIN is ever held, never the PIN itself. That record is removed when the organiser deletes your customer record at that event, or when the event's data reaches the end of its retention period.

What is kept, and for how long

Sales records are kept, with your name removed from them. An organiser has to be able to reconcile its takings and meet its own accounting obligations, so the line items, totals and times of a sale survive deletion as figures that are no longer tied to a person. Nothing left behind names you or can be traced back to you.

When the organiser does it from the app it is immediate. When you come to us instead, we act within 30 days. An organiser can also delete an entire event, which removes its customers, its menu and its sales history in one go.
